This week, Cadillac is showing off the production version of the Lyriq with minimal changes from the show car that was revealed in August 2020 along with basic specifications and pricing. Despite the challenges of the pandemic over the past 12 months with thousands of engineers and designers working remotely, GM actually managed to pull ahead the U.S. launch of the Lyriq by nine months. The electric crossover was originally scheduled to start production in China in mid-2022 with U.S. production beginning late in the year. Instead, GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly plant will start turning out Lyriqs in the first quarter of 2022 with deliveries to begin sometime in the spring.

Overview Cadillac’s first entrant into the luxury electric vehicle market will be the Lyriq SUV, which offers sharp styling and a modern cabin. Cadillac says that both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive models will be offered, and that its new SUV will have a driving range of more than 300 miles. The Lyriq has been designed from the ground up and will ride on General Motors’ new scalable battery architecture; the company claims a low center of gravity and a spacious cabin as benefits of the dedicated EV-architecture. The Lyriq should be on sale sometime in early 2022 as a 2023 model. What’s New for 2023? Not only is Lyriq a brand-new nameplate for the American luxury brand, it’s also Cadillac’s first all-electric offering. When it goes on sale, it’ll go head to head with heavy hitters such as the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and Tesla Model X. New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs and the province’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell provided an update on Sunday regarding the number of COVID-19 cases in the province and discussed the government’s ongoing response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Starting June 1, New Brunswick will only be testing individuals with two or more symptoms of COVID-19, announced Dr. Russell. The province’s top doctor also announced three new cases of COVID-19, all confirmed to be elderly residents of Manoir de la Vallée Manor in Atholville, N.B., bringing New Brunswick’s total active coronavirus cases to 12. The community is dealing with an increase in cases after a family doctor who contracted the virus outside New Brunswick didn’t self-isolate upon return.
