The Tax Collector is David Ayer’s latest original tale about a Southern Los Angeles Mexican Crime story. Following Bobby Soto & Shia LaBeauf as tax collectors for their local cartel, they find their whole world turned upside down when a new rival encroaches on their territory. Anyone familiar with David Ayer should know that he’s pretty much been using this setting as the backdrop of all his films since Training Day. He actually had a chance to branch out a little in 2014, but after Suicide Squad, he just went back to the setting that he’s the most familiar with, and much to the detriment of his films, because this is just as unoriginal, just as generic and shows a serious lack of growth.
