This is NOT an April Fools joke, the fallout of the massive list of buffs and nerfs has resulted in the 3-3 meta only shifting a bit. The massive patch didn’t really diminish the GOATS comp much other than the fact that bunker comps on some maps are somewhat playable on a couple defenses. Other than that, GOATS traded some Lucio speed for some serious CC control from Brigitte and Lucio so that the Winston version of the comp is actually MORE durable than it was before as those two supports can keep anything off of their Zen more easily. A bit of a balancing nightmare when nerfing goats was the goal, but instead Blizzard has proverbially kicked the can down the road with the goats meta, as it has been accidentally buffed not nerfed. The real culprit is Brigitte whose mere mention alone will trigger anger in the comments section of this video but truthfully, she does still dominate the objective control aspects of the game and seeing as that’s how you win in Overerwatch, being playable as a 3rd support is causing some serious problems for Team 4 to solve. In today’s YO vs Comments video we tackle the most relevant concept in Overwatch’s future (seeing as game Director Jeff Kaplan is a fan of the idea) 2/2/2 Locked Role Queue. Allowing for free form role/hero selection has resulted in years of chaotic unstable gameplay and an incredible unreliable experience overall. Players struggle to gain any momentum in learning a role because either, they can’t play it reliably often enough, are forced to fill on a different one – or don’t even have a proper team comp to begin with making a big % of games not contests of Competitive Overwatch, but instead won or lost at the hero select screen when Team A has a real comp and Team B doesn’t. All of this makes for the SR system to be far less legitimate of an indicator of ‘where a player is ranked’ due to this role flexibility problem and as well, the stability and reliability of the ranked experience is simply explosive due to its format. Despite this all being the case, there are some who are worried about the lack of creativity in a locked 2-2-2 (which at the high end it’s easily to be argued they’re’d be MORE creativity than there ever has been) but even so, it’s not like the playerbase is effectively utilizing all this “creativity” we’re currently awarded, no, instead we just get bad comps – nobody wants their games thrown “creatively” we want reliable competition. There are seemingly infinite ranked misconceptions that exist within Overwatch and it’s seemingly Sisyphean task to combat them, as for every lesson taught, there’s a dozen more incorrect interpretations being manifested. On the PTR yesterday Junkrat and Reaper both got buffs that rework their kit in a big way. Our video covering the patch notes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aadxRjRiVoI Junkrat nades perform MUCH differently now eliminating the entire idea of the nades having a zoning control over an area, which really, only worked at lower elo gameplay where players awareness and movement wasn’t strong enough to reliably get past the lingering nades on the ground. Instead now, you can bank shot the nades and reliably have them explode thereafter, allowing you to more accurately place the explosion. Reaper on the other hand, got what is probably a non-entity at higher levels of play, but perhaps a big boon to his effectiveness at lower ranks where he already was strong. Being able to disguise shadowstep a bit so the enemy can’t exactly tell where his hitbox is, but still can see the shadowstep animation and he can now use the ability while jumping allowing for narrow escapes and huge flanks that were never possible before. Problem is, if you see the animation, and you usually will, this isn’t too much better than it already is and if you’re using it to runaway quickly you’re not concealed so much that you’d feel confident in using it a lot of the time. Instead, Reaper should get a entirely new ability that makes him more relevant, similar to how Torbjorn got molten core, Reaper needs a anti GOATS cooldown skillshot in our opinion. In this video we discuss how some Overwatch PTR changes have made Doom look scary again. Not only have his cooldowns on seismic slam and uppercut been reduced, but he also got a ‘secret’ buff to his crowd control on slam. Doom’s opponents got given more control in the air in his last adjustment, but at the same time, the slam no longer brought targets in on hit. This wasn’t intentional and the bug has been fixed meaning, Doom now returns to viability, especially when you consider how well he matches up against the new hero Baptiste.
