Governor Andrew Cuomo said the state has still not reached what he calls the ‘apex’ of the COVID-19 pandemic, and estimates it will hit that mark in the next four to eight days. Cuomo announced Saturday that New York State suffered its deadliest 24 hours, reporting an additional 630 COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the state total to 3,565. There were 10,841 new cases also recorded in the state bringing the total to 113,704. Cuomo says there are now up to 15,905 patients in hospitals with COVID-19 with 4,125 of those in ICU. He added that of those who have been hospitalized, 66 per cent have recovered. There are 85,000 volunteers who are assisting with the novel coronavirus response in New York State, and Cuomo says of those, 22,000 have come from out of state.
