Today AD is welcomed by John Legend and Chrissy Teigen to tour their loving family home in Beverly Hills. The superstar couple are no strangers to moving house as the chapters of their lives change, this time around wanting a magical space for their kids to grow up. John and Chrissy enlisted AD100 designer, Jake Arnold, working in tandem as he paired his signature earthy palette with their desire for bright pops of color. Together they designed an open space full of warmth with no shortage of spots for family time during their latest stage of life. “Every house we’ve ever had reflects the moment we were in in our lives, like chapters in a book,” Teigen avers. “We were attracted to this place because of its lightness and airiness. When tasked with bringing these iconic childhood toys to life on the big screen, Greta Gerwig enlisted the skills of production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer. Taking inspiration from Palm Springs midcentury modernism they’ve created a whimsical fuchsia pink fantasy where slides replace stairs and there’s not a wall in sight–when touring this impressive set it’s hard not to feel a rush of playful nostalgia as Greta states “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses.” Barbie hits theaters on July 21. Jennifer Aniston’s interior designer Stephen Shadley talks with Architectural Digest Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley about the ‘zen’ style and designs of the new home Aniston shares with husband Justin Theroux. Jennifer Aniston takes AD inside her dreamy California home high above Los Angeles, Jennifer Aniston crafts a scene of pure domestic bliss with husband Justin Theroux, a spectacular midcentury house, and a trio of very happy dogs. Aniston’s latest residential project is the reimagining of a Bel Air house that was designed by architect A. Quincy Jones and completed in 1965. The actress acquired the property in 2011, after selling her beloved Hal Levitt–designed home in L.A.’s Trousdale Estates enclave (AD, March 2010) and attempting to relocate to Manhattan—a move ultimately thwarted by the rabid paparazzi that swarmed outside her Greenwich Village apartment building. When she bought the Bel Air property, it had recently emerged from a renovation by architect Frederick Fisher, which, despite its sympathetic embrace of Jones’s vision, skewed a bit too cool and minimal for Aniston’s taste. Aniston enlisted the aid of AD100 interior designer Stephen Shadley, with whom she had collaborated on her previous L.A. home, to perform a similar alchemy in Bel Air—namely, to preserve the modernist ethos of the original scheme while softening some of its sharp lines and outfitting the interior with tactile, organic finishes and furnishings. Aniston seconds the notion, pointing to the vintage Jean RoyĂšre Polar Bear sofa, Jacques Adnet armchairs, and Mies van der Rohe daybed arranged in the living room. [More]

Architectural Digest takes you on a tour of three stunning rooms in Kourtney Kardashian’s home: the entryway, and the living room. While interior designer Martin Lawrence Bullard describes the home decor and interior design elements, Kourtney dives into the more personal side of her home tour. When Kourtney Kardashian purchased an 11,500-square-foot mansion in Calabasas, California, from former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, she enlisted Million Dollar Decorators’ Martyn Lawrence Bullard to transform the Tuscan-style dwelling into a contemporary retreat more suited to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s minimalist aesthetic. From the Pierre Jeanneret seating that surrounds the dining table to the living room’s museum-quality Oscar Niemeyer chair and ottoman to the Jules Leleu desk that anchors her art-filled office, the home brims with modernist gems. In the entryway, Kardashian has a vintage mirror, light fixture, a custom-made table, and stools on a limestone floor. In the kitchen, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” sister has a stainless steel sink, refrigerator, range and oven, glass cabinet, coffee machine with clock, tea kettle, porcelain bowl, maple cutting boards, glass pendant lights, Italian flatware, glass cake stand, three-tier serving tray, a limestone floor and a lot of black and white photographs. In the living room, Kourtney has wool sofas and silver fox throw pillows, leather chairs, ring chandelier, vintage lamps, a diamond skull, fireplace, potted plant, pool table, her childhood Yamaha piano, sconces, game boxes, and a lot of books. With the help of designer Don Stewart, the celebrity couple created a space that is perfect for indoor-outdoor living. The terrace is outfitted with a Rodolfo Dordoni sofa, low chairs by Blackman Cruz, and a James Perse daybed with cushions and pillows covered in Sunbrella fabrics. The armchairs on the terrace are by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia. A painting by Mark Harrington and a Pottery Barn rain-drum table accent the entrance hall. An Alison Berger light fixture from Plug Inc. hangs above the Yamaha piano; the television is by Samsung, and the dog sculpture is from Craig Olsen. Basalt counters and floor tiles complement rift-cut teak cabinetry in the kitchen, which features a trio of stools by Emmerson Troop, a ProLine hood, and a Thermador cooktop and ovens. Legend’s home recording studio is furnished with a sofa covered in an Edelman leather. The bed in the master suite is by B&B Italia; the linens and throw are by Anichini. Today Travis Barker welcomes Architectural Digest to Calabasas, California for a tour of the understated, modern home he shares with his growing family. It’s been a busy spring for the perpetually in-demand musician – Barker recently produced Machine Gun Kelly’s latest album Mainstream Sellout (which hit #1 on the Billboard charts) and is currently in the studio working on his own label DTA Records, a joint venture with Elektra Music Group. When he decided it was time to refresh the feel of the home he’s owned for 15 years, his mother-in-law Kris Jenner suggested he reach out to Waldo Fernandez, a perennial fixture on the AD100. Barker admits that the restrained vibe he arrived at is a bit of a departure from some of his previous residences. “I’ve had homes with lots of flashy cars, murals, and bikes hanging from the ceiling. But with three children of my own, plus Kourtney’s kids, this place felt right for this moment in my life.” See more of Travis’ family home. Shop Travis’ home style!
