Trump to Michelle Obama I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Barack. President Donald Trump responded Tuesday morning to former first lady Michelle Obama’s forceful rebuke of his character and leadership — claiming that he would not have been elected to the White House were it not for what he called the failings of her husband’s administration. “Somebody please explain to @MichelleObama that Donald J. Trump would not be here, in the beautiful White House, if it weren’t for the job done by your husband, Barack Obama,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Biden was merely an afterthought, a good reason for that very late & unenthusiastic endorsement,” he added. The president’s social media post came hours after the former first lady addressed the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, using her prerecorded keynote speech to cast Trump as a commander in chief dangerously deficient in empathy and experience. “If you take one thing from my words tonight, it is this,” she said. “If you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can and they will if we don’t make a change in this election. If we have any hope of ending this chaos, we have got to vote for Joe Biden like our lives depend on it.” Just as Michelle Obama’s remarks Monday represented her toughest indictment to date of her husband’s successor, Trump’s tweet Tuesday also appeared to be his most direct attack yet on the former first lady. Trump targeted her again later Tuesday morning [More]
Advertisement  Before you ask, no, “WAP” isn’t on there.  Barack Obama unveiled his summer 2020 playlist ahead of his Wednesday keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention. As usual, it’s stacked with an eclectic assortment of excellent tunes, spanning various genres and eras, but all representing the former president’s well-documented good taste in the arts.  “Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer — including songs from some of the artists at this week’s [DNC],” the former president wrote on Twitter. “Hope you enjoy it.”  The playlist includes some hits from earlier this year, including Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix featuring BeyoncĂ©, the Chicks’ “Gaslighter,” and Haim’s “The Steps,” as well as older favorites like “These Arms of Mine” by Otis Redding and “Could You Be Loved” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Other tracks include cuts from Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, and Billies Eilish and Holiday. (Also, Obama is apparently a Frank Ocean fan, as we all should be.)  The former commander-in-chief will (virtually) take the stage at the DNC Wednesday night, following his wife and former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech on Monday. The convention officially nominated Obama’s vice president Joe Biden for the Democratic ticket on Tuesday, locking him in to take on President Donald Trump in November’s election.  Related content: Barack Obama salutes class of 2020: ‘This is your generation’s world to shape’ [More]

Former President Barack Obama will headline the third night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, delivering a live address from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. The choice of location is intended to convey that “our very democracy is at stake” in this election, according to a CNN report. Obama will join other party powerhouses like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Kamala Harris, who will officially accept her party’s nomination for vice president. The former president’s speech comes after an impassioned address by his wife, Michelle, on Monday night, during which the former first lady assailed the current occupant of the White House as reckless and desperately unqualified. “Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country,” she said. “He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is.”
