Scotland and Northern Ireland have both reported no new coronavirus deaths as the UK saw its lowest number of fatalities since March. Scotland’s announcement on Sunday marks the first time it has seen no Covid-19 deaths since lockdown began back in March. Northern Ireland has previously seen days with no deaths. Across the UK, a further 77 people have died after contracting coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 40,542. However, there are fears that as lockdown is eased, cases across the UK could rise. Since the artist has been unable to perform on the streets, he has decided to reinvent himself as a fumigator. “I changed my course. Now I disinfect my clients’ houses. I’m not going to do shows anymore. Now I call them and offer them my disinfection services for houses, premises, businesses. I am advised by a fumigation company and I am dedicated to this now,ā explained Castillo about his new professional line of duty. According to reports available in local media, ‘Robotin’ disinfects up to three and four houses a day, and the cost of this service ranges from 20 to 30 soles (5 to 7.5 euros, 5.8 to 8.2 US dollars). The substance he uses is quaternary ammonium rather than bleach. Earlier this month the company had cut 3,700 jobs. Over 25 per cent of employees have been laid off and 45 offices have been closed. “I would say 70 per cent of my passengers are in the high tech industry, so that was, everything to me was dependent on them working and they are not working right now,” said an Uber driver Mark. In the meantime and like many other Uber drivers, Mark has begun delivering food, for Uber Eats, which has seen a surge in demand due to COVID lockdowns. B.C. Premier John Horgan announced Wednesday the renewal of a provincial state of emergency as the province continues its efforts to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. Horgan said the state of emergency would remain in place āfor the foreseeable future.ā The B.C. government also announced it would use a funding windfall of $120 million from the federal government to ādecommission, reclaim or restoreā more than 2,000 inactive or orphaned wells within British Columbia. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced an investment of $1.7 billion to clean up orphan wells in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan in April to help keep people working during the COVID-19 pandemic. Energy Minister Bruce Ralston said $100 million would be used to clean up dormant wells in B.C., while $15 million would go towards cleaning up orphaned wells, where the operator āno longer exists,ā cannot be located or is insolvent. The remaining $5 million will be used to mitigate the environmental impacts of ālegacyā oil and gas discovery.
