My free Murray Lawn Tractor riding mower when started, sometimes the starter continues to spin because then energized plunger on the solenoid sticks in the energized position until you hit it with a screwdriver to disengage the plunger. To fix this issue, I just replaced the solenoid with a new one. There is an access cover under the dashboard of the tractor that you can remove and gain full access to the solenoid. The tractor had a 3 post solenoid which I had in stock and simply replaced it. Everything works as it should now. I also spent some time inserting inner tubes and fixing wheels with slow leaks from dry rot and cracks in the tires. From my previous episodes, you’ll know I almost tore down this tractor and parted it out for the curb but due to the great condition of it, I decided to try and rejuvenate the engine and see if it would run. After it ran so well, I decided to find a seat for it and eventually a deck. My friend Jason saw a Facebook marketplace listing of the exact deck I needed in excellent condition for just $60. I ended up getting it for $40 which is very unlike what I do. I never pay for anything, but I thought it was a great deal for a deck in such great shape and an exact match to what I needed for this project to be completed. Therefore I had to spend the money which goes against my philosophy of my YouTube channel. The deck fit perfectly but I did have to find a spring for the PTO and a bunch of R clips to get the deck installed. One of the blades were bent so I had replace it with a blade from the back yard, it’s not the same blade but it worked and didnt vibrate. Thanks to Jason for the heads up.
