In US news and current events today, health care workers on the front lines of COVID-19 across the country are in desperate need of PPE like face masks. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has frequently talked about the need for more PPE and face masks, as well as things like ventilators, for New York residents and COVID19 patients.
Dennis Ruhnke, a retired farmer in Kansas, made national news in April 2020 when he mailed an extra N95 respirator face mask to give to New York health care workers amid the coronavirus, along with a touching letter to NY New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. On May 5, Ruhnke was awarded an honorary bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. Ruhnke was reportedly only 2 credits away from earning the degree when his father passed away in 1971.
