Just some more casual conversation and mention of a theme that continually comes up–door closing or hanging open. This came up the other day in relation to my apartment door being heavy and a maintenance man suggesting I place a work order for a ‘soft closer mechanism’ to prevent any future slamming (lots of contractors and maintenance needing to access apartments right now and they kind of forget). I did that, but the guy who came out wasn’t immediately sure how to fix the slamming issue. So, then, I show up at the UPS Store this morning and the door was hanging open after I entered and the employee there, who was counting her drawer behind the counter, kindly asked if I could pull it closed. I am recalling that the UPS door might have been like this the last time I was there and maybe the time before that, but they haven’t been able to get it repaired. The door thing came up one other place, I’m kind of forgetting where, but it dawned on me that the speed at which doors close is officially now a ‘theme’ out there in the world of disney parks, per se. Kind of joking, but…what exactly is going on with doors and the speed at which they do or don’t close?
