[voice over] The Drive Modes on your TRX give you control over how your truck responds to different driving conditions. To access them:
– Press the TRX button in the Apps menu, then Drive Modes toward the top of the touchscreen.
– Push the Left or Right Arrow button under the TRX button on the instrument panel to switch between modes and display your selection in the instrument cluster display. If the interface is already open on the touchscreen, the mode will be displayed there as well.
– Push the TRX button on the instrument panel, then press Drive Modes on the touchscreen. Double pushing the TRX button will engage the Custom Drive Mode.
On-Road drive modes appear on the left side of the touchscreen.
– Auto is the mode your truck defaults to at each engine start. Use this for everyday driving on dry, hard-surfaced roads.
– Snow mode is for loose traction surfaces, and may avoid first gear to minimize wheel slippage.
– Tow is for hauling heavy loads in the cargo area, or towing a trailer.
– Sport provides improved handling capability, faster shift speeds, and firmer suspension stiffness.
Off-Road drive modes appear on the right side of the touchscreen.
– Mud/Sand mode maximizes traction with equal torque split front and rear.
– Rock optimizes traction control for low-speed off-road driving or crawling.
– Baja mode is optimized for high speed off-road driving.
– And custom mode lets you save your favorite setup for easy recall.
To set up your truck for use on a race track, press the TRX button in the apps menu, then press the Race Options tab near the top-right to configure settings for Launch Control, Shift Light, and Race Cooldown.
Launch Control is designed for maximum acceleration in a straight line, with minimum wheel slippage. To use it, adjust the RPM with the arrows or slider bar, then press the “Activate Launch Control” button on the touchscreen or the Launch button on the TRX control switch. Next, put the vehicle in First gear or Drive, and point the steering wheel straight ahead. While holding the brake pedal, press the accelerator pedal to wide-open throttle. Engine RPM will hold at the level set previously. When you see the “release brake” message on the instrument cluster display, release the brake pedal. Launch control will be active until the vehicle reaches 62 mph, or 100 km/h… the accelerator pedal is released… or the vehicle stops moving in a straight line.
The Shift Light feature provides a visual cue to manually up-shift using the gear selector or shift paddles. You can set the target RPM for gears 1 through 4… and 5 through 8. Press and release the up or down arrows to change in increments of 250 RPM. Press and hold to change in increments of 500 RPM.
The Race Cooldown feature can be enabled to help dissipate heat from the powertrain after an aggressive driving event. If the vehicle senses that the engine is off, the hood is closed, and the battery is sufficiently charged, cooling will begin. A graph shows the coolant temperature in real time if the vehicle ignition is in the On/Run position with the engine off. Your owner’s manual has specific guidelines for track or extreme off-road use. Be sure to follow these recommendations before and after each race or aggressive off-road use of your truck.
Finally, your vehicle has a Storage Mode setting, which can be selected in the Instrument Cluster Display. Turn this setting on when the vehicle will not be driven for extended periods of time.
