On-Road and Off-Road with the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX – Tx Truck Rodeo

So we did have the opportunity to both drive this TRX on road and off but let’s face it, going fast in this thing is where it’s at and although it handled itself just fine on our slow and technical off-road course, this thing is really meant to be running, hammer down, in an open field or desert rally.

Let’s talk quickly about what this new truck from Ram is first and then we’ll get into some of my thoughts and impressions after getting some seat time.

First off, the TRX was developed with help from FCA’s SRT engineering team with a goal to not just out perform but significantly out perform the competition.

There’s a lot about this truck that makes it so good but there’s no overlooking that power plant. Under the hood is the one and only supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine pushing 702-hp and delivering a top speed of 118-mph. This my friends is the fastest, most powerful, mass-production half-ton truck in the world.

The next little tid-bit with this TRX is its all-new custom suspension composed of the highest quality components and tuning geared toward high-speed desert runs (like I already mentioned)

And, as Ram does, this isn’t just about the performance as you also get a world class interior. This truck has a high-performance inspired interior utilizing Ram’s 12 inch Uconnect display, an all-new heads-up display, a flat bottom racing inspired SRT steering wheel, and you also get an exclusive Drive mode selector.

The TRX has a starting MSRP of $69,995 and the ones we drove at the event were decked out with a full MSRP of $87,225.

Comparing that to the only and most obvious competitor, the Ford Raptor, that has a base MSRP of $55,150 and a pretty decked out MSRP of just over $70k

That being said the TRX is much more powerful than the Raptor with the Raptor producing only 450-hp vs the 702 in the TRX.

So, my thoughts are pretty easy here… this thing really performs on road and was unstoppable off road. The interior is just as nice as some of the nicest Rams on the market. It’s a solid drive but just bonkers when you put your foot into it. Do you need a truck with 702-hp? Yes, yes you do.

With that, I hope we’ll get one in for a full review soon enough so if there’s anything we didn’t touch on, and I know there’s a lot, leave me a comment below on what you’d like to see or hear more on. If you enjoyed the video, leave a thumbs up and as always, thanks for watching!
