In Edmonton, Jason Kenney, the premier of Alberta, announces that on May 14, 2020, his province will proceed with the first stage of its plan to ease public-health restrictions that are in place due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. In Calgary and Brooks, where cases of COVID-19 are more prevalent, the easing of restrictions will take place over a longer timeframe. The premier is accompanied at the announcement by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health.
