Mayor John Tory was joined by Toronto’s medical officer of health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg as they provided an update on the city’s COVID-19 cases and the ongoing response to the pandemic on Monday.
Dr. de Villa reported that the city has 164 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. She said that 8,630 people have recovered from the virus in the city, which is an increase of 184 people since Sunday.
Ontario reported 404 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, bringing the provincial total to 28,263.
Greater Toronto Area public health units account for 66 per cent of all cases in the province.
