During a Monday briefing with Toronto Public Health, Toronto Mayor John Tory warned that if people are caught defying city by-laws by continuing to use city parks and amenities closed due to COVID-19, they could be fined a minimum of $750. Tory said by-law officers and police will be conducted blitzes at public parks to ensure these rules are followed.
In addition, the city has reported that as of 1 p.m. ET on March 30, there are a total of 591 confirmed COVID-19 cases, up 50 since Sunday, said Dr. Eileen de Villa, medical officer of health for the City of Toronto.
Toronto Public Health confirmed on Monday that there has been an outbreak at the headquarters located at 277 Victoria Street. De Villa spoke on the outbreak, and also said that employees have been told to self-isolate from Toronto Public Health headquarters in the city’s downtown core after eight workers tested positive for the virus.
