Ontario Premier Doug Ford, alongside Minister of Health Christine Elliott and Minister of Education Stephen Lecce announced Wednesday that Ontario would be expanding its list of those eligible for emergency child care.
Lecce said those now eligible would also include grocery store workers, pharmaceutical workers, retirement home staff, Ontario truckers, the Canadian Armed Forces, and those who support those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Ontario reported 347 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, the lowest single-day increase in more than three weeks, bringing the provincial total to 15,728 cases.
The death toll has risen to 996 as 45 more deaths were reported.
