ANTHONY JOSHUA’S rematch against Andy Ruiz will take place in the US and not the UK, according to rival promoter Frank Warren. Just days after AJ lost all his heavyweight titles after a shock seventh-round stoppage loss to the Mexican, the rematch was signed. AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said there are FIVE countries in the running to host the rematch. But Warren, who will be overseeing his man Tyson Fury at the weekend when he fights Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas, believes Joshua vs Ruiz part II will happen in America. Speaking on talkSport’s Sports Bar, the Hall of Fame promoter said: “There’s all talk about this rematch being in the UK, which I don’t think will be in the UK “If they do get this rematch on, it’ll have to be in the States because the TV company out here, DAZN, will want it out here. “They’ll want it at prime time. They put the money up for the last fight, so they’ll want it prime time in my opinion, and he’s gotta win it.” FIVE COUNTRIES IN RUNNING The front-runners remain Madison Square Garden, where AJ was shocked against Ruiz – as well as Britain’s Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Principality. Promoter Eddie Hearn told iFL TV Joshua wants to redeem himself Stateside after his shock US debut defeat to 25-1 outsider Ruiz – though the promoter prefers a UK rematch. Hearn said: “AJ said, ‘Do you think it would be a big statement if I came back and put the wrong right at MSG? “I said, ‘From a marketing, fairy-tale perspective – yeah, absolutely. But you have to win this fight and you’re at a much bigger advantage if this fight’s in the UK.’ “For me, the fight should be in the UK. You came to Andy Ruiz’s country to take this fight, it doesn’t make you a bad person having a rematch in the UK.
