My review of An American Pickle. This movie is exclusively on HBO Max and Stars Seth Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a jewish immigrant from Eastern Europe in the year 1919. After getting a job at a pickle factory, Herschel falls into a tub of pickle brine and is left there and preserved for 100 years. After being found and woken up in 2019, Herschel is introduced to his only living relative, his great grandson, Ben Greenbaum. The two then go through a journey of tribulations, learning about family and each other.
An American Pickle really showcases Seth Rogen’s acting talent, and he truly becomes the jewish immigrant of Herschel Greenbaum, a role unlike anything Rogan has played before.
