After two-thirds of the ballot papers had been counted, the ANC had surpassed four million votes.
The DA has just over two million votes, followed by MK with just over a million votes.
The EFF is also nearing the million mark with just over 900.000 votes.
The ANC currently has 41%, the DA 22% and the fledgling MK 12% of the vote.
The IEC announced earlier that it is pulling all the stops to ensure the finalisation of the capturing and auditing of the results for this year’s election, saying that this remains on course.
The Eastern Cape is at just over 92% of the capturing, the Free State at just over 95%.
The Northern Cape is at 100% with all the districts completed.
